A scientific-practical seminar on “Environmental Legislation and Biodiversity Protection” was held at Mingachevir State University (MSU), organized by the Department of Physics and Ecology. The event, aimed at drawing attention to the preservation of ecological balance and the legal protection of the environment—one of the most pressing issues of the modern era—was attended by the university’s academic staff and students.
In the introductory part of the seminar, a comprehensive video reflecting the relevance of the topic and the current state of ecosystems was presented. The video provided participants with visual information about global and regional environmental challenges, the importance of biodiversity protection, and the consequences of anthropogenic impacts on the environment.
During the presentation session, Polad Atayev, a legal specialist of MSU, delivered a speech on “Legal Responsibility in Identifying Environmental Violations.” In his presentation, he analyzed the legal assessment of environmental damage and the mechanisms for implementing environmental legislation.
Afterwards, Farid Maliknov, leading advisor of the Department for Regulation of Environmental Use and Environmental Awareness of the Regional Ecology and Natural Resources Department No. 8, spoke about environmental monitoring measures implemented at the regional level and provided detailed information on the practical enforcement of environmental legislation and the importance of environmental awareness.
Continuing the scientific-theoretical discussions, Aysel Bayramova, a lecturer at the Department of Physics and Ecology, delivered a presentation on “Strategies for Biodiversity Protection under Anthropogenic Impacts.” In her report, she analyzed the effects of human activities on flora and fauna based on scientific evidence and introduced modern conservation models aimed at preserving biodiversity and genetic resources. It was emphasized that biodiversity conservation is not only a biological issue but also a strategic priority for ensuring sustainable development.
In the final part of the event, interactive discussions were organized between students and academic staff. Questions of interest to students were answered by the speakers, and the importance of young people’s active participation in environmental initiatives was highlighted.
It should be noted that Mingachevir State University regularly organizes scientific and practical events dedicated to environmental protection, environmental awareness, and sustainable development, and these initiatives significantly contribute to increasing students’ ecological knowledge and responsibility.
