MSU Green Campus Project
Mingachevir State University (MSU) places special emphasis on promoting sustainable mobility and the use of environmentally friendly transportation across its campus. The university campus features extensive open spaces, pedestrian-friendly pathways, and suitable areas for cycling and electric scooter use. These facilities provide students, staff, and visitors with safe, comfortable, and accessible mobility options.
MSU supports the wider use of bicycles and electric scooters on campus. To encourage green mobility, the university provides bicycles and electric scooters free of charge for students and staff. Dedicated parking facilities for bicycles and electric scooters have been established throughout the campus. This approach promotes environmentally friendly and low-emission transportation methods while reducing the environmental impact of daily mobility and fostering a culture of sustainable transportation.
The university’s campus planning prioritizes pedestrian accessibility, the preservation of green spaces, and the sustainable use of land resources. Wide pedestrian zones, open recreational areas, and environmentally friendly infrastructure create a comfortable environment for walking, cycling, outdoor activities, and learning.
Mingachevir State University was recognized in the 2025 UI GreenMetric World University Rankings as the 897th Most Sustainable University in the World. The university also ranked 9th among higher education institutions in Azerbaijan. This achievement reflects the university’s ongoing commitment to environmental sustainability, green campus development, resource efficiency, and responsible environmental management.
Through its dedication to sustainable transportation, green infrastructure, biodiversity conservation, and environmental responsibility, Mingachevir State University contributes to reducing carbon emissions, improving campus well-being, and advancing the objectives of sustainable development.
