Mingachevir State University (MSU) supports local farmers and food producers in improving sustainable agricultural practices through the MSU Seed Bank, established on 13 January 2026 as part of the University’s Green Campus Strategy.
The Seed Bank preserves more than 50 seed samples, including agriculturally significant crops for the region, ornamental plants, and local flora species. These plant genetic resources contribute to biodiversity conservation and provide a valuable resource for gaining knowledge about plant varieties adapted to local conditions and sustainable cultivation methods.
Local farmers and food producers benefit from the Seed Bank’s resources and the University’s relevant scientific expertise to expand their knowledge of seed conservation, plant diversity, and environmentally responsible farming practices. These resources contribute to promoting sustainable agricultural practices, preserving local plant genetic resources, and strengthening the resilience of regional ecosystems.
Through this initiative, MSU promotes the practical application of knowledge related to plant genetic resources and supports the development of cooperation between the University and the local agricultural community.
