Implementation of the “Sovereign Youth: Heroes of the 44 Days” Project Launched at Mingachevir State University

The implementation of the project titled “Sovereign Youth: Heroes of the 44 Days”, which won the grant competition announced by the Youth Foundation of the Republic of Azerbaijan within the framework of the “Year of Constitution and Sovereignty”, has officially started. The project is being implemented in partnership with Mingachevir State University (MSU) and the Student Youth Organization of the University.

The main objective of the project is to contribute to strengthening the state sovereignty of the Republic of Azerbaijan, promoting constitutional values among young people, and helping the younger generation better understand the significance and national importance of the historic Victory achieved in the 44-day Patriotic War. Within the framework of the project, increasing the patriotic spirit of youth, fostering a strong sense of statehood, and strengthening commitment to national and moral values are among the key priorities.

As part of the first stage of the project, an awareness-raising training titled “State Sovereignty of Azerbaijan: Historical Path and Present Day” was organized. During the training, participants discussed Azerbaijan’s historical path toward restoring state independence, achieving and protecting sovereignty, as well as the political and legal aspects of sovereignty in the modern era. Particular attention was also paid to the protection of Azerbaijan’s national interests in the post-war period.

The event was attended by Aynur Araz, regional representative of the “Azerbaijan Teacher” newspaper, and Elvin Mammadzada, Advisor to the Rector of Mingachevir State University on Social Affairs, as guest speakers. The training was conducted by Inglab Shirinli, political scientist and member of the International Federation of Journalists. During the session, the trainer held interactive discussions with the participants and emphasized that the concept of a sovereign state is strengthened not only by legal documents but also by national consciousness, social responsibility, and active citizenship. Discussions around the questions raised by young participants further enhanced the practical value of the training.

It should be noted that within the framework of the “Sovereign Youth: Heroes of the 44 Days” project, additional thematic trainings, panel discussions, meetings, and various awareness-raising activities are planned for the upcoming stages. The project aims to contribute to the development of young people as active citizens who are committed to statehood values and capable of defending national interests.
