The Azerbaijani flag preserved in the home museum of Azami Huseynov, a graduate of Mingachevir State University who rose to the rank of martyr during the 2020 Patriotic War, has been donated to the Flag Science and Turkish Flags Museum operating under Dokuz Eylul University in the city of Izmir, Turkey. This step carries great significance as a symbol of deep respect for the sacred memory of the martyr and the unshakable brotherhood between Azerbaijan and Türkiye.
The entrusted flag was presented to Mingachevir State University by the martyr’s mother, Sayad Huseynova. She stated that she was proud that this initiative, which immortalizes the sacred memory of her son, was received with honor in the brotherly country. The administration of MDU expressed special gratitude to her for this noble step.
The delegation of Mingachevir State University, currently on a business visit to Türkiye, presented the flag to the leadership of Dokuz Eylul University. The gift was accepted by Vice-Rector Dilshen Ince Erdogan and Director of the International Cooperation Office Mubeccel Danu Durukan Sali. They emphasized that they received this meaningful gift with great respect and emotional value and noted that the flag would be exhibited in a special section of the Turkish Flags Museum.
The university administration presented letters of appreciation to Rector of MDU Anar Eminov and to the martyr’s mother Sayad Huseynova, expressing confidence that humanitarian and cultural cooperation between the two higher education institutions would continue to expand.
This initiative once again confirmed that the brotherhood between Azerbaijan and Türkiye finds its highest expression not only in official relations but also in the respect shown for the sacred memory of martyrs. Through this meaningful initiative, Mingachevir State University once again demonstrated both its respect for the spirit of its martyr graduate and the unbreakable unity embodied in the principle of “one nation, two states.”
