The main purpose of the meeting was to support students’ adaptation to the university environment, inform them about MSU’s educational opportunities, academic environment, student-centred approach and development priorities, as well as congratulate them on the new academic year.
Welcoming the students, Rector Anar Eminov congratulated them on their admission to MSU and the beginning of a new stage in their university life. The Rector noted that student years are not only a period for acquiring knowledge and skills in one’s field of study, but also an important stage during which one’s worldview is shaped and such qualities as social responsibility, initiative, leadership and teamwork are developed.
During the meeting, information was also provided on the admission figures for the 2026/2027 academic year. It was stated that this year, 1,631 students were admitted to 38 bachelor’s degree programmes at MSU, while 130 master’s students were admitted to 29 specialisations. The Rector emphasised that the latest admission figures are among the key indicators of the confidence placed in the University and the development processes being implemented at MSU.
Anar Eminov advised the students to make effective use of the educational and development opportunities available at MSU, actively engage in the learning process and participate closely in scientific research, innovation, international exchange, volunteering, and social and community activities. It was stated that, alongside training highly qualified specialists in line with the demands of the modern labour market, the University attaches particular importance to students’ personal and professional development, the enhancement of their practical skills and the expansion of opportunities for international experience.
In his speech, the Rector highlighted that developing a modern, accessible and student-centred educational environment at MSU is one of the University’s key priorities. It was emphasised that the University’s educational approach places great importance on ensuring that, during their studies, young people develop not only as competent professionals but also as proactive citizens who recognise their responsibilities to society and are responsive to contemporary challenges.
The meeting also highlighted the importance of fostering an environmentally responsible attitude among students, promoting a culture of environmental awareness, using available resources efficiently and expanding sustainable practices throughout university life. It was stated that students’ active participation in initiatives implemented in this area makes a significant contribution both to the development of the university environment and to raising a socially responsible younger generation.
Addressing the newly admitted students, Anar Eminov expressed his confidence that they would participate actively in the University’s academic and social life and contribute to MSU’s development through their new ideas and initiatives.
Addressing the students, the Rector stated: “You are now members of the large Mingachevir State University family. I believe that the knowledge and skills you acquire in the years ahead will provide a solid foundation for your future professional careers. I encourage you to continue learning and conducting research, make use of new opportunities without hesitation and set ambitious goals for yourselves. The success of each of you is a valuable contribution to the future of both our University and society. I wish each of you a successful, productive and memorable new academic year.”
At the conclusion of the meeting, Rector Anar Eminov once again congratulated the students on the beginning of the 2026/2027 academic year and on becoming MSU students, wishing them outstanding academic achievements, a fulfilling student life, and success in their personal and professional development.
The meeting continued with an exchange of views. The students’ questions were answered, and discussions were held.
