A literary and musical event dedicated to Victory Day held at MSU

On 6 November 2026, a literary and musical event dedicated to 8 November – Victory Day was held at Mingachevir State University (MSU), organised by students of the Faculty of Economics and Management.

Attended by the university leadership, academic staff, employees, and students, the event aimed to convey the significance of the historic Victory achieved in the 44-day Patriotic War to the younger generation, honour the cherished memory of the martyrs, and contribute to promoting the values of national unity, patriotism, and statehood.

The event began with a minute of silence in honour of the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity and sovereignty, followed by the National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

Speaking at the opening, Associate Professor Nushaba Gadimli, Dean of MSU’s Faculty of Economics and Management, emphasised that Victory Day holds a special place in the Azerbaijani people’s historical memory and system of national and moral values. She noted that the Victory achieved in the 44-day Patriotic War was the result of the unity of our people, the heroism of the Azerbaijani Army, and the resolute policy pursued under the leadership of Victorious Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev. N. Gadimli also spoke about the importance of nurturing patriotism among young people, preserving historical memory, and passing national values on to future generations.

Minaya Huseynova, a member of a martyr’s family and an employee of MSU, also addressed the event. Her speech highlighted the moral significance of the martyrs’ sacrifices for the homeland, the importance of keeping their cherished memory alive, and passing their heroic legacy on to the younger generation. It was emphasised that the respect and moral support shown to martyrs’ families are an important expression of solidarity within society.

Suleyman Suleymanov, a student of the Faculty of Economics and Management, then delivered a presentation about the life and heroism of his grandfather, who was martyred for the homeland in 1992. The presentation recalled the martyr’s devotion to the homeland and selflessness, paying tribute, through his example, to the heroes who fought for Azerbaijan’s independence and territorial integrity.

During the literary and musical part of the event, students of the faculty performed patriotic songs and pieces of national music.

Organised with the active participation of students, the literary and musical programme provided opportunities for them to demonstrate their creative abilities, strengthen their connection to national and cultural heritage, and promote the values of unity and solidarity within the university community. The event was also significant in increasing young people’s social and cultural engagement, expanding their opportunities for self-expression, and supporting their participation in public life.

At the conclusion, gratitude was expressed to those who contributed to organising the event, and it was emphasised that the memory of the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for Azerbaijan’s independence, territorial integrity, and sovereignty would always be honoured with deep respect.

The event dedicated to Victory Day concluded in a spirit of national pride, love for the homeland, and unity.
