On September 20, 2026, a cycling event dedicated to the International Day of University Sport was held through the joint organization of Mingachevir State University (MSU) and the Central Aran Regional Youth and Sports Department of the Ministry of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
The main purpose of the initiative was to promote a healthy lifestyle and physical activity among young people, increase interest in university sports, and contribute to fostering a culture of active and sustainable living.
During the cycling event, attention was drawn to the positive impact of physical activity on protecting human health, improving quality of life, and developing healthy habits. Furthermore, encouraging young people to prioritize cycling in their daily lives, supporting active mobility opportunities, and promoting behaviors that have a lower environmental impact were among the event’s main focus areas.
The joint cycling event contributed not only to increasing students’ physical activity but also to encouraging them to adopt a healthy and environmentally responsible lifestyle. Promoting cycling is also important in terms of reducing the use of motor vehicles for short-distance journeys, supporting a healthier urban environment, and developing a culture of sustainable mobility.
Organized on the occasion of the International Day of University Sport, this initiative is of great significance as a continuation of MSU’s activities aimed at developing a healthy and inclusive university environment, increasing students’ social and physical engagement, and strengthening approaches related to environmental responsibility and sustainable lifestyles.
At the same time, the event aligns with the University’s sustainable development approach by promoting health and well-being, contributing to the development of sustainable cities and communities, and encouraging climate- and environmentally conscious behavior.
