Within the framework of the Memorandum of Cooperation signed between Mingachevir State University (MSU) and Sharof Rashidov Samarkand State University of the Republic of Uzbekistan, distinguished Uzbek scholars have begun conducting research activities at MSU.
As part of this cooperation, Dilbar Yarmatova and Tanzila Majidova, associate professors at the Department of Ecology and Life Safety of the Faculty of Geographical Ecology at Samarkand State University, have visited MSU.
During the meetings held as part of the visit, the guest scholars were introduced to MSU’s academic and research environment. The parties exchanged views on opportunities for conducting joint research with the University’s academic staff, prospective research projects, and areas for further developing mutual cooperation.
The discussions focused particularly on engaging the Uzbek scholars in research activities in collaboration with MSU’s relevant departments, conducting joint studies, preparing articles for international academic publications, and implementing collaborative research projects.
Under the agreed research programme, Dilbar Yarmatova and Tanzila Majidova are expected to conduct studies in the areas of “Contemporary Problems of Ecology” and “Environmental Consequences of Climate Change.” The importance of this research was emphasised in terms of examining environmental challenges on a scientific basis, assessing the impacts of climate change on the environment, and expanding the mutual exchange of research expertise in these fields.
In addition, the guest scholars are expected to deliver open lectures for MSU students and introduce them to contemporary scientific approaches and international research practices. These activities are expected to contribute to broadening students’ academic perspectives, developing their research skills, and promoting a scientific approach to environmental issues.
The meetings also addressed opportunities for making more effective use of the research potential of MSU’s relevant departments, expanding existing areas of research, and establishing joint research groups with Samarkand State University.
The expansion of international academic and research cooperation remains one of MSU’s key priorities, as it contributes to strengthening the University’s research capacity, integrating its academic staff into international research networks, and increasing students’ access to a contemporary scientific environment.
The commencement of research activities by the Uzbek scholars at MSU contributes to the practical implementation of the Memorandum signed between the two universities, the further strengthening of ties between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan in the fields of higher education and science, and the expansion of joint research in such pressing areas as ecology and climate change.
