First Training Held within the Framework of the “Green Garden – Agronomy Skills” Project Initiated by a Mingachevir State University Student

The first training session within the framework of the “Green Garden – Agronomy Skills” project has been organized in the city of Mingachevir. The initiative belongs to Emil Shukurov, a student of Mingachevir State University.

The first training session was held at Secondary School No. 8 named after Nizami Ganjavi in Mingachevir. The training, dedicated to the topic “Soil Structure and Methods of Planting Fruit Trees,” aimed to provide students with fundamental theoretical knowledge about agronomy and to increase their environmental awareness.

During the training, participants were provided with detailed information about the structure of soil layers, soil fertility indicators, the suitability of different soil types for cultivation, and the factors affecting the healthy growth of plants. In addition, the methods of planting fruit trees, preparation of planting pits, adaptation processes, and initial care practices were explained on a theoretical basis.

After the training, a site visit was organized to the area where the project activities will be implemented. Students became familiar with the characteristics of the area and the stages of the activities to be carried out there. In order to ensure more effective organization of the project activities, students were divided into teams and the responsibilities of each team were defined.

It was noted that the first training made an important contribution to the development of ecological thinking, responsible attitudes toward nature, and the formation of initial knowledge and practical skills in the agricultural field among students. In the next stages of the project, additional trainings on compost preparation, plant cultivation, environmental awareness, and creative ecological activities are planned.

It should be noted that the “Green Garden – Agronomy Skills” project is being implemented at Secondary School No. 8 named after Nizami Ganjavi in Mingachevir and aims to develop students’ environmental literacy as well as their practical skills.
