On 27 October 2026, a training seminar entitled “The future of financial markets: crises, innovations and investment strategies” was held at Mingachevir State University (MDU), organised by Alasvar Musayev, a lecturer in the Department of Economics. Students majoring in Finance attended the event.
The main purpose of the training seminar was to expand students’ knowledge of changes in financial markets, explain the causes of crises and their effects on economic stability, and raise awareness of innovative financial instruments and investment strategies.
In his presentation, Alasvar Musayev discussed the multifaceted nature of modern financial crises. Geopolitical fragmentation, the expansion of sanctions regimes and the effects of trends towards reduced dependence on the US dollar on capital flows, as well as systemic liquidity risks and the threat of inflation, were examined among the factors contributing to crises. The potential effects of these processes on the functioning of financial markets and investment decisions were explained.
The training seminar emphasised the importance of the appropriate use of innovative financial instruments, improved financial literacy and effective risk management for the sustainable development of financial markets. Attention was drawn to the need to consider market conditions, uncertainties and long-term economic prospects when developing investment strategies.
The session also addressed the development of digital financial services and the application of financial technology (fintech), blockchain and artificial intelligence. Information was provided on the role of these technologies in expanding access to financial services, analysing data and creating new investment opportunities.
The presentation highlighted that, alongside allocating capital, financial markets play an important role in supporting global economic stability and financing technological progress. The importance of considering long-term sustainability and responsible investment approaches in financial decision-making was emphasised.
The training seminar helped students connect their theoretical knowledge with contemporary economic processes and supported the development of their analytical thinking and informed decision-making skills. Events in this area contribute to promoting quality education, improving digital and financial literacy, and preparing future professionals for the changing demands of the labour market.
