On November 6, 2026, students majoring in Azerbaijani Language and Literature Teaching, who are participating in teaching practice, organized an event entitled “Pride Born of Victory – Wave, My Tricolour Flag!” at Secondary School No. 12 in Mingachevir. The event was organized by the Department of Humanities of the Faculty of Pedagogy of Mingachevir State University (MSU) on the occasion of November 8 – Victory Day and November 9 – State Flag Day.
The main purpose of the event was to strengthen schoolchildren’s love for their homeland, commitment to national and moral values, respect for state symbols, and sense of patriotism, as well as to instil in the younger generation an understanding of the significance of Azerbaijan’s historic Victory.
The event began with the performance of the National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan. This was followed by a one-minute moment of silence in memory of the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the freedom and territorial integrity of our homeland.
As part of the programme, the historical significance of November 8 – Victory Day was highlighted. A symbolic transition from Victory Day to State Flag Day was made, followed by the screening of a video dedicated to the history of our tricolour flag. In their speeches, participants emphasized that the Azerbaijani flag is a symbol of the country’s independence, national unity, and sovereignty.
The artistic segment of the event featured poetry recitations dedicated to the homeland by schoolchildren, the song “Bu dağlardan o yana” performed by MSU student Umid Yusizada, and a poem on the theme of the homeland recited by student Khadija Osmanova. These performances were warmly received by the participants. A national-themed dance performance presented by the schoolchildren also added a special atmosphere to the event.
During the continuation of the programme, a speech dedicated to the heroism of our martyrs was delivered, followed by a video presentation reflecting their honourable path of military service. The choir’s performance of a song dedicated to the homeland was one of the memorable moments of the event.
Such initiatives play an important role in connecting theoretical knowledge with practical activities within teaching practice and developing students’ professional, organizational, and communication competencies. At the same time, they contribute to strengthening cooperation between the University and general education institutions and fostering national and moral values, historical awareness, and civic responsibility among schoolchildren.
The event concluded with the organizers expressing their gratitude to all participants.
The event entitled “Pride Born of Victory – Wave, My Tricolour Flag!” remained a successful example of MSU’s practice-oriented educational approach, university–school cooperation, and the active involvement of students in social and educational activities. Such initiatives constitute an important part of the University’s mission to promote quality education, social responsibility, the preservation of national and moral values, and contribute to the development of a sustainable society.
