Mingachevir State University (MSU) hosted a screening and presentation of the AI-generated short film “Alone Against the Enemy” (“Düşmənə qarşı tək”), dedicated to the life and military legacy of Azerbaijan’s National Hero Natig Gasimov, on the occasion of November 8 – Victory Day and November 9 – National Flag Day.
The presentation ceremony was attended by members of the National Hero’s family, representatives of MSU’s academic and administrative staff, undergraduate and graduate students.
The primary purpose of the event was to honor the cherished memory of National Hero Natig Gasimov, who demonstrated extraordinary courage in defending Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity, introduce his heroic legacy to younger generations, and highlight the potential of modern digital technologies in preserving national memory.
Delivering the opening address, MSU Rector Anar Eminov emphasized the profound moral and historical significance of screening the film on the eve of Victory Day and National Flag Day. The Rector noted that Natig Gasimov’s heroism stands as a remarkable example of devotion to the Motherland, national determination, and unwavering loyalty to the Azerbaijani flag. He highlighted that bringing the National Hero’s military journey to the screen through modern technologies represents an important initiative in communicating Azerbaijan’s history of heroism to younger generations in a more engaging and accessible manner.
Anar Eminov further emphasized that higher education institutions play a vital role not only in providing academic knowledge but also in educating young people who uphold national and moral values, possess a strong sense of historical identity, and demonstrate a high level of civic responsibility. The Rector stated that such initiatives contribute to strengthening students’ patriotic spirit, preserving the nation’s heroic legacy, and promoting the educational application of innovative technologies.
Subsequently, Nofal Gasimov, the National Hero’s brother, addressed the audience and reflected on Natig Gasimov’s life and military service, highlighting his boundless love for his homeland and the Azerbaijani flag. Emphasizing that keeping his brother’s memory alive holds profound emotional significance for the family, Nofal Gasimov expressed his gratitude to the leadership and staff of Mingachevir State University for their attention and commitment to passing on the National Hero’s legacy to future generations.
It should be noted that the film “Alone Against the Enemy” was produced by SOY Production with the financial support of the Baku Media Center. The project was led by Honored Artist Dilara Aliyeva, with Sarvan Huseyn serving as the screenwriter and artificial intelligence specialist, and Fariz Aliyev as the editor. Based on historical facts and recollections shared by the National Hero’s family members, the film uses artificial intelligence technologies to recreate Natig Gasimov’s selflessness and unwavering determination in the face of the enemy during the First Karabakh War.
As part of the event, the film “Alone Against the Enemy” was screened for the participants. The production once again reminded the audience of the National Hero’s honorable military legacy and the heroic history of the Azerbaijani people.
Mingachevir State University intends to continue implementing initiatives aimed at preserving national memory, promoting patriotic values, and harnessing the educational potential of digital innovations.
