An open lesson dedicated to Victory Day at MSU: from historical memory to a responsible future

On 6 November 2026, an open lesson entitled “Karabakh Victory: The Triumph of Historical Justice,” dedicated to 8 November – Victory Day, was held at the Faculty of Education of Mingachevir State University (MSU).

Organised for students by Leyla Babayeva, a lecturer in the Department of Humanities, the lesson aimed to expand their knowledge of the history of the Karabakh conflict, the First and Second Karabakh Wars, the historic Victory achieved by the Azerbaijani Army in the 44-day Patriotic War, and the Great Return to the liberated territories.

During the lesson, information was provided about the historical stages of the Karabakh conflict, the Azerbaijani people’s longstanding struggle, and the significance of the Victory achieved in the 44-day Patriotic War. Speaking about the historic Victory secured under the leadership of President and Victorious Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev, Leyla Babayeva emphasised that this achievement embodied the unity of our people, the strength of the Azerbaijani Army, and the selflessness of our servicemen.

The open lesson also focused on the restoration and reconstruction work being carried out in the liberated territories, the changes in the lives of people returning to their native lands, and the importance of the Great Return programme. These processes were highlighted as important educational topics in terms of preserving historical and cultural heritage, revitalising communities, and creating sustainable living environments.

Students were informed about the place of Victory Day in Azerbaijan’s history and its significance for national unity, patriotism, and statehood. The lesson helped connect knowledge of historical events with civic responsibility, strengthening young people’s commitment to national and moral values and their willingness to contribute to society’s future.

It should be noted that MSU places particular emphasis on students’ well-rounded development by drawing on the awareness-raising and character-building opportunities offered by teaching. Such lessons, which promote the preservation of historical memory, respect for cultural heritage, and social responsibility, contribute to nurturing knowledgeable young people who uphold national values and participate in public life.
