MSU expands cooperation with industrial enterprises to train specialists in line with labour market requirements

On November 3–4, 2026, business meetings were held with the heads of power plants operating in Mingachevir, jointly organized by Associate Professor Mahir Ismayilov, Head of the Department of Energy Engineering at Mingachevir State University (MSU), and the Division of Engineering Professional Development and Certification.

The meetings brought together labour market representatives and university staff. Their main purpose was to develop university–industry relations, align engineering education with labour market requirements, and increase graduates’ employment opportunities.

The discussions focused on improving the professional knowledge and skills of students enrolled in MSU’s “Energy Engineering,” “Electrical and Electronics Engineering,” and “Industrial Engineering” programmes. Participants exchanged views on incorporating subjects that meet labour market needs into the university-designated elective course block of the curricula and developing course syllabi with industry requirements in mind.

The organization of short familiarization visits and educational excursions to enterprises during students’ studies was also discussed. It was noted that such visits could help students become more familiar with production processes, connect their theoretical knowledge with practical examples, and prepare for their future professional careers.

The meetings also focused on supporting graduates’ access to job opportunities relevant to their qualifications and strengthening links with employers. The importance of sustained cooperation between educational institutions and industrial enterprises was emphasized in terms of training specialists who meet industry needs and supporting the region’s sustainable socioeconomic development.

Appreciation was expressed to the university leadership and the management of the industrial enterprises for their support in organizing the meetings, along with confidence that this cooperation would contribute to students’ professional development and the improvement of engineering education quality.
