On October 23, 2026, an awareness-raising event entitled “Children’s rights and freedoms” was held at Nursery-Kindergarten No. 10 “Garanfil” in Mingachevir as part of Children’s Rights Month. The event was jointly organized by student interns from Mingachevir State University (MDU) and the staff of the preschool institution.
The main purpose of the event was to introduce children to their rights and freedoms in an age-appropriate manner, increase attention to their health, safety, and overall development, and develop the practical skills of future educators.
The event was attended by the institution’s methodologist Tarana Movsumova, its music director, preschool teachers from two groups, medical staff, Ilaha Amrahzada, a lecturer in MDU’s Department of Pedagogy and Psychology, student interns, and children attending the kindergarten.
The event began with the National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan, followed by a minute of silence in tribute to the cherished memory of the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the freedom and sovereignty of the country.
In her opening remarks, student intern Khadija Yusifova spoke about the purpose of the event and the relevance of the topic, emphasizing the importance of informing children about their rights and freedoms from an early age. Other student interns then explained the rights to life, education, health protection, rest, play, growing up in a family, and protection in simple and accessible language.
The event also featured a short performance dedicated to the right to health protection. With the participation of the institution’s medical staff, a child’s medical examination was acted out. This demonstration conveyed to the children the importance of receiving medical care and protecting their health.
The informative presentations and performance helped children develop an initial understanding of their rights and broaden their awareness of a healthy and safe life. The topics addressed during the event highlighted the importance of every child growing up in an environment that provides equal opportunities, care, and protection.
The joint activity enabled MDU students to apply their theoretical knowledge in a real educational setting and improve their communication skills with children and their use of age-appropriate teaching methods. The event contributed to the exchange of experience between the university and the preschool institution and to the promotion of quality education and social responsibility.
At the end of the event, participants posed for a commemorative photograph.
