Childcare Room Established for Students and Staff at Mingachevir State University

Mingachevir State University (MSU) has implemented a new social initiative aimed at promoting gender equality, expanding women’s access to higher education and employment opportunities, and supporting the balance between family responsibilities, academic life, and professional commitments.

A dedicated childcare room has been established at the University to support both students and staff members with young children, enabling them to participate in educational and professional activities without interruption.

The newly established facility provides a safe and comfortable environment for children while their parents attend classes or carry out their professional duties. To ensure appropriate care and supervision, a designated group of university staff members has been assigned to look after the children during their parents’ class or working hours.

The primary objective of this initiative is to prevent motherhood and childcare responsibilities from becoming barriers to women’s access to higher education and continued employment. It also aims to facilitate the active participation of students and staff in academic and professional activities while fostering a more inclusive and supportive university environment.

The childcare room is accessible to both student mothers and university employees with young children. This approach demonstrates the University’s commitment to supporting not only students but also its employees by addressing their childcare needs and promoting their social well-being.

The operation of the childcare room aligns with the principles of the University’s Gender Equality Policy, contributing to equal opportunities for women in education and employment, strengthening institutional support mechanisms, and promoting a family-friendly university environment.

Furthermore, this initiative contributes to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 – Quality Education, SDG 5 – Gender Equality, SDG 8 – Decent Work and Economic Growth, and SDG 10 – Reduced Inequalities.
