Academic advisers meet with first-year students at MSU

Academic advisers held group meetings at the Faculty of Education of Mingachevir State University (MSU) to support first-year students who began their studies in the 2026–2027 academic year in adapting to the university environment.

During the meetings, students received information about the organisation of the teaching and learning process, academic planning, and opportunities for active participation in university life. The main principles of the Bologna Process, the European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS), credit accumulation, and academic progression were explained.

Particular attention was paid to assessment procedures, which were of interest to students. Detailed information was provided on the features of continuous and final assessment, the impact of attendance and individual and independent assignments on academic results, as well as students’ responsibilities in the learning process.

The meetings also addressed the academic and institutional reforms being implemented at MSU and the measures taken to continuously improve the quality of education and strengthen the student-centred approach. The importance of integrating modern learning technologies and digital tools into teaching was highlighted in terms of expanding access to educational resources and developing students’ independent learning skills.

Discussions also covered effective communication between teachers and students, compliance with the university’s internal regulations, and active participation in the learning process. Academic advisers explained how students could seek assistance with academic and organisational difficulties and encouraged them to make use of the available support.

Held through an exchange of views and question-and-answer sessions, the meetings provided opportunities for students to share their opinions, receive answers to their questions, and obtain guidance on adapting to university life.

The meetings aimed to strengthen an inclusive academic environment that takes students’ individual needs into account, support the effective use of quality education opportunities, and encourage young people’s active participation in the university’s academic and social life.
