On November 4, 2026, Rector of Mingachevir State University (MDU), Anar Eminov, met with university staff preparing for doctoral studies in connection with the launch of free English language classes. The meeting included an exchange of views on staff preparation for doctoral studies, the improvement of foreign language proficiency, and the importance of academic English skills in scientific research. The Rector listened to participants’ views and expectations regarding the preparation process. The meeting provided an opportunity to discuss staff members’ academic development needs, inform them about preparation opportunities, and support their interest in scientific activities.
During the meeting, participants received detailed information about the format, assessment criteria, and main requirements of the foreign language examination for admission to doctoral studies. Recommendations for effective preparation were shared, and staff members’ questions were answered. At the end of the meeting, Rector Anar Eminov wished each participant success in their preparation and future scientific activities.
The English language classes, organized by MDU’s Department of Foreign Languages, will be completely free of charge for university staff preparing for doctoral studies. Classes will be held three times a week in online and face-to-face formats. This approach will facilitate staff access to preparation opportunities and enable flexible participation in the learning process.
In addition to preparation for the doctoral admission examination, the classes focus on developing the academic English skills necessary for doctoral studies and scientific research. The classes are intended to strengthen participants’ abilities to work with scientific sources in English, write academic texts, and communicate on scientific topics. The initiative supports the continuous professional development of university staff, expands access to quality education, and strengthens their scientific potential. By providing free preparation opportunities, it aims to promote equal opportunities for staff members’ academic development and contribute to broader access to international scientific literature and opportunities for scientific collaboration.
