On 26 October 2026, an awareness-raising seminar on “Developing a Tourism Product” was held at Mingachevir State University (MDU). The event was conducted by Sabina Guluzade, a lecturer in the Department of Tourism Business and Marketing.
Organised for university students, the seminar aimed to explain the importance of eradicating hunger and ensuring food security, examine the role of gastronomic tourism in this regard, and discuss opportunities for developing Azerbaijani national cuisine as a sustainable tourism product.
Sabina Guluzade spoke about the importance of using local resources efficiently, preserving national culinary traditions, and promoting responsible consumption habits when developing tourism products. Attention was drawn to the opportunities that gastronomic tourism offers for supporting local producers, increasing regional economic activity, and promoting national culinary heritage.
The seminar also addressed reducing food loss and waste, encouraging the use of seasonal and local products, and considering environmental and social responsibility in the provision of tourism services. It was emphasised that these approaches could contribute both to the efficient use of food resources and to the well-being of local communities.
Held in an interactive format, the seminar attracted students’ interest. The exchange of views enabled them to expand their knowledge of tourism product development and consider the social, economic, and environmental aspects of gastronomic tourism together.
