A volleyball tournament dedicated to “8 November – Victory Day” has kicked off at MDU

On 15 October 2026, a volleyball tournament dedicated to 8 November – Victory Day kicked off among students at Mingachevir State University (MDU), organized by the Sports and Health Complex.

A total of 8 teams comprising students from the university’s Faculties of Economics and Management, Engineering, Mathematics and Information Technologies, and Education are competing in the tournament.

The tournament aims to convey the place of Victory Day in our national memory to young people through the unifying power of sport. Expressing respect for the cherished memory of our martyrs, presenting the sacrifices of our veterans as an example to the younger generation, and instilling a sense of devotion to the homeland form the central idea of the competition.

The sporting event provides opportunities for students to increase physical activity in their daily lives, improve their volleyball skills, and spend their leisure time meaningfully. The teams’ pursuit of a shared goal helps participants strengthen their habits of mutual support, quick thinking, and collaboration.

Alongside encouraging students to participate actively in university life, the interfaculty competition creates a favorable environment for building new friendships. Emphasizing sportsmanship, respect for opponents, and team responsibility during the matches is particularly significant for developing young people’s social skills.

The volleyball tournament serves to promote healthy lifestyle habits at MDU, improve students’ physical and social well-being, and strengthen their unity around national values.
