Sustainable Development Network of Turkic World Universities (TWUSN) Being Established with Higher Education Institutions from 5 Countries: Mingachevir State University among Founding Members

On August 27, 2026, an online meeting was held on the establishment of the Turkic World Universities Sustainable Development Network (TWUSN), aimed at strengthening cooperation among universities of the Turkic world in the field of sustainable development and expanding the exchange of knowledge and experience.

The meeting, initiated and organized by Ege University, was attended by Anar Eminov, Rector of Mingachevir State University, as well as rectors and representatives of the other founding universities. As one of the founding universities of TWUSN, Mingachevir State University’s participation in this initiative is regarded as an important step toward expanding the university’s international cooperation and sustainable development activities across the Turkic world.

At the opening of the founding meeting, Prof. Dr. Musa Alcı, Rector of Ege University and Chair of the TWUSN, welcomed the participants and emphasized that the establishment of the network would make an important contribution to developing cooperation among universities of the Turkic world around common goals.

The rectors and authorized representatives of the founding universities then delivered speeches, introducing their respective higher education institutions, expressing their support for the establishment of the network, and sharing their views on opportunities for joint activities in the field of sustainable development.

Speaking on behalf of Mingachevir State University, Rector Anar Eminov noted that the university attaches particular importance to developing international cooperation, applying sustainable development principles to university life, and actively participating in various local and international initiatives in this field. It was emphasized that Mingachevir State University is interested in expanding mutual exchange of experience, joint projects, and academic cooperation with universities across the Turkic world.

During the meeting, issues related to the establishment of TWUSN, the main areas of its activities, strategic objectives, and its structural and governance model were discussed. The proposals and assessments of the founding universities were also heard, followed by an exchange of views on future areas of cooperation.

The establishment of TWUSN, which aims to unite universities of the Turkic world around the goal of a sustainable future, creates new opportunities for sharing experience and best practices in sustainable development, implementing joint research and projects, strengthening academic cooperation, and realizing common initiatives. The network is expected to contribute to further strengthening cooperation and solidarity among universities of the Turkic world.

It should be noted that the founding universities of the Turkic World Universities Sustainable Development Network include Ege University from Türkiye as the founding and executive university; Atyrau University from Kazakhstan; Azerbaijan State Agricultural University and Mingachevir State University from Azerbaijan; Kyrgyz State International University and Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University from Kyrgyzstan; and Urgench State Medical Institute from Uzbekistan.

Mingachevir State University’s representation on this international platform as a founding member is of significant importance in terms of developing the university’s relations with higher education institutions across the Turkic world, sharing its institutional experience in sustainable development, and expanding its participation in joint initiatives in the future.
