Scientific-Practical Seminar Dedicated to the 120th Anniversary of Academician Yusif Mammadaliyev Held at MDU

A scientific-practical seminar titled “The Scientific Legacy of Yusif Mammadaliyev and the Challenges of Chemistry in the 21st Century” was organized at Mingachevir State University in honor of the 120th anniversary of the birth of the prominent representative of Azerbaijani science, renowned chemist, and academician Yusif Mammadaliyev. The event was held on November 20, 2025, at the Heydar Aliyev Museum at Mingachevir State University located in the university’s third academic building.

The seminar was opened with remarks by President Ilham Aliyev highly appreciating the contributions of academician Yusif Mammadaliyev to Azerbaijani science. The President’s statement emphasizing the scientist’s exceptional role in the development of petrochemistry provided a special conceptual direction to the event: “The discovery of a new method for producing high-octane aviation fuel brought fame to Yusif Mammadaliyev.”

The moderator of the seminar, Associate Professor Tarana Yusibova, PhD in Physics and Mathematics, welcomed the participants and noted that the academician’s scientific legacy remains relevant today. Afterwards, a video presentation titled “Academician Yusif Mammadaliyev – A Legacy that Opened New Paths in Science” was screened.

Within the framework of the scientific-practical seminar, presentations by faculty members were delivered. Associate Professor Adil Aslanov presented a report titled “Thermodynamic and Chemical Analysis of the Solubility Criteria of Poorly Soluble Metal Sulfides.” Sanur Baylarli-Sadiyeva delivered a presentation on “The Role of Chemistry in Decarbonization Processes,” while Sabina Mammadova spoke on “Prospects for the Use of Green Hydrogen in Azerbaijan.”

The presentations created opportunities for discussing theoretical and practical perspectives on current challenges of chemistry in the 21st century, including green energy, decarbonization, new directions in applied chemistry, and the role of chemical science in modern industry.

At the end of the event, extensive discussions were held on the topic, and participants emphasized the importance of the scientific legacy of Yusif Mammadaliyev in addressing contemporary scientific problems.
