Mingachevir State University Is Constructing a New 7-Hectare Campus in Accordance with Modern Sustainability and Construction Standards

Mingachevir State University (MSU) continues the construction of its new university campus, one of the institution’s major infrastructure development projects aimed at modernizing educational facilities, creating a favorable academic environment for students and staff, and advancing the University’s sustainable development strategy.

The new university campus, covering a total area of 7 hectares (70,000 m²), is being developed in accordance with modern architectural, urban planning, safety, environmental sustainability, and energy efficiency requirements. The project prioritizes compliance with the applicable national building codes and construction regulations of the Republic of Azerbaijan, relevant technical safety requirements, and contemporary standards for higher education infrastructure.

The new campus development project aims to establish modern teaching and research facilities, create functional spaces for academic activities, expand green areas, and develop an environmentally responsible university environment.

Environmental sustainability and efficient resource management are among the key priorities of the new campus project. Particular attention is given to energy-efficient building solutions, responsible water consumption, effective waste management, green infrastructure, environmental protection, and the integration of sustainable construction principles into campus development.

Furthermore, the campus planning emphasizes the safety and well-being of students and employees, accessibility for persons with disabilities, inclusive infrastructure, pedestrian-friendly spaces, and the creation of a healthy and secure educational environment.

The new campus project also contributes to the implementation of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly:

  • SDG 4 – Quality Education: Developing modern and inclusive educational infrastructure.
  • SDG 7 – Affordable and Clean Energy: Promoting energy efficiency and sustainable energy solutions.
  • SDG 11 – Sustainable Cities and Communities: Creating safe, inclusive, resilient, and sustainable campus infrastructure.
  • SDG 12 – Responsible Consumption and Production: Encouraging efficient resource utilization and environmentally responsible construction practices.
  • SDG 13 – Climate Action: Supporting environmentally sustainable infrastructure and climate-conscious campus development.

The construction of the new campus represents a significant component of Mingachevir State University’s long-term institutional development strategy. The project is expected to strengthen the University’s educational and research capacity, improve infrastructure quality, promote environmentally responsible management practices, and contribute to the development of a sustainable university model in the region.

Through this large-scale campus development project, Mingachevir State University reaffirms its commitment to creating a modern, innovative, inclusive, and environmentally sustainable higher education environment that meets contemporary educational and infrastructure requirements.
