Mingachevir State University (MDU) continues its awareness-raising activities aimed at promoting sustainable development principles, improving social well-being, and fostering environmental and economic awareness among students.
On October 12, 2026, a seminar on “Green Economy and New Economic Opportunities for Low-Income Populations” was held for a group of university students, delivered by Yegana Mammadli, Associate Professor of MDU’s Department of Economics.
The main objective of the seminar was to broaden students’ knowledge of the concept of the green economy, the role of environmental sustainability in economic development, and the creation of new employment and income opportunities for low-income populations.
During the training, the principles of the green economy, the efficient use of natural resources, environmentally sustainable business models, and opportunities to strengthen social inclusion were discussed. The importance of green economic initiatives in creating new jobs, developing entrepreneurship, and increasing the economic participation of vulnerable social groups was also highlighted.
The seminar was conducted in an engaging and interactive format, with students exchanging views on the topic and discussing the opportunities offered by the green economy, as well as the challenges in this area. The interactive approach helped develop their analytical thinking, ability to assess socioeconomic issues, and capacity to evaluate sustainable development prospects.
During the seminar, it was emphasized that the green economy can contribute not only to environmental protection but also to reducing social inequality, making economic opportunities more accessible, and promoting inclusive development.
Through such initiatives, Mingachevir State University supports efforts to strengthen environmental responsibility and social awareness among students, promote sustainable economic development principles, and prepare professionals who approach contemporary economic challenges creatively and responsibly.
