On October 19, 2026, a scientific seminar on “Professional Skills in Logistics and Labor Market Requirements” was held at Mingachevir State University (MSU), presented by Tükəzban Gasimova, a lecturer at the Department of Economics.

The seminar featured an exchange of views on the role of the logistics sector in modern economic development, the importance of human capital in the effective management of transportation and supply chains, emerging professional fields, and the changing requirements of the labor market.

As part of the event, the importance of professional skills in supply chain management, warehouse and inventory planning, international transportation, customs procedures, digital logistics systems, and data analysis was highlighted. Particular emphasis was placed on the impact of digitalization, automation, and artificial intelligence technologies on logistics processes, as well as their role in shaping the knowledge and competencies required in the labor market.

During the seminar, issues related to strengthening the connection between theoretical knowledge and practical skills in higher education, expanding university–business cooperation, organizing internships in line with the actual needs of the labor market, developing foreign language proficiency, and mastering international logistics standards were also examined. The importance of these areas in enhancing students’ professional preparedness, facilitating their integration into the labor market, and expanding their future career opportunities was emphasized.

The seminar also focused on the impact of Azerbaijan’s participation in international transportation and logistics corridors on the demand for qualified personnel, the creation of new employment opportunities, and regional economic development. It was noted that training specialists equipped with modern technological knowledge, analytical thinking, problem-solving, and professional communication skills is essential for making effective use of the country’s transit and logistics potential.

The event also addressed the efficient use of resources, optimization of transportation and supply processes, application of digital solutions, and enhancement of environmental responsibility in line with sustainable development principles. The importance of these approaches in improving operational efficiency in the logistics sector, reducing environmental impact, and supporting sustainable economic development was highlighted.

The scientific seminar once again demonstrated the importance of activities carried out at Mingachevir State University to promote educational approaches aligned with current labor market needs, develop a student-centered learning environment, integrate scientific and practical knowledge, and strengthen the university’s contribution to socioeconomic development.

The main objective of the seminar was to raise awareness of modern labor market requirements in the logistics sector, promote the development of students’ competitive professional skills, and contribute to expanding their future employment prospects.
