Training on empirical research methods and SPSS launched at MSU

On 13 October 2026, Mingachevir State University (MSU), through its Department of Research and Innovation, launched a training course for its academic staff titled “Fundamentals of Empirical Research: SPSS and Data Analysis.” The course is led by Günay Hasanова, a staff member of the department.

The training aims to develop participants’ skills in conducting empirical research, designing studies, collecting data through surveys, carrying out statistical analyses, and interpreting the findings on a scientific basis.

On the first day, participants examined how to define a research topic and question, review academic literature, prepare a questionnaire, select participants, and code data. They also learned how to conduct statistical analyses using SPSS, read and interpret the results correctly, and present them in academic articles.

During the four-day training, participants will reinforce their theoretical knowledge through practical assignments and gain experience in the main stages of empirical research.

The training aims to contribute to the development of research activities at the university, strengthen academic staff’s knowledge and skills in research methods, and improve the quality of empirical studies. Basing research findings on reliable data and sound analysis supports the advancement of scientific knowledge and helps inform decisions that address society’s needs.
